Training Minister
I grew up in Garland, TX in a home that valued church attendance. Over the course of time, it became a value of mine as well, but it wasn’t until a woman who faithfully served in our church’s children’s ministry introduced me to the cornerstone of the church that my affections shifted from attendance to abiding. At the age of 8, Christ saved me and from there on I would grow in the knowledge of Him and His gospel.
During my junior year of high school, I felt God’s prompting to pursue pastoral ministry. I was not entirely sure what that would entail, but I proceeded as obediently as I could. After graduating, I attended Moody Bible Institute to complete a bachelors in youth ministry and biblical studies. It was during this time that God fanned into flame my love for His Word and the life of the mind (in other words I became a nerd). Since then God has sent me on a journey of service to his church as a youth minister, grade school Bible teacher, coach and barista!
In the midst of it all, the Lord has blessed me with the most suitable partner, friend and sister in Christ that I could ask for. My wife Chrissy and I met in high school and have been together ever since! We have two beautiful children, Taj and Matea, and life just wouldn’t be as bright without them.
Currently, I serve as the Young Adult Minister here at Citizens Church and the Lord is still teaching me what it means to be a disciple of Jesus as I lead others in doing the same. In the words of David Hansen, “Every day, as I go about my tasks as a pastor, I am a follower of Jesus. I am therefore a parable of him to those I encounter.” I pray that to be true of me until Jesus returns.
My hope for Citizens Church is that we would be a people who abide in Jesus and fulfill our role as His ambassadors. As our name suggests, may we be people who remembers where our true citizenship is, and glory in the king of that kingdom over all else.
