I was raised in Heath, Texas in a household with my mother, older sister, older brother, and younger brother. I still was able to see my Dad often. My parents displayed so much grace and love for us kids by attending nearly all of our games. Sports dominated my household, so that’s typically where you could find us on Sundays, if not at our home church Lake Pointe. My siblings and I are separated by only 5 years from the youngest to the oldest, making us super close. I also have two half-brothers that are 13 years younger than me and are twins.
My performance in sports played such a pivotal part in my everyday life that it became the place I derived my worth and value. This began to feed into the way I viewed God and His love. I felt like I had to earn what He so freely gives. This caused me to have my fair share of battles with anxiety and depression.
By the grace of God, I was able to play college basketball at The University of Texas at Dallas, where my older brother was also playing. It was at UT Dallas that I would encounter Josh Thomas and Ryan Taloa, two men who exemplified what it looked like to love Jesus and to live life with abundant joy. Along with their teachings, I also found a community of believers within the basketball team. It was in college that I began to reconcile with my faith and it became the main focus of who I was. I became a member at Citizens in 2019 and was baptized on October 25th, 2020.
Since then I have earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology, and have been a part of Lake Highlands YoungLife for the past 2 years. The Lord has truly changed my life, bringing me from death to life. It is because of His love that I get to love others and hopefully show them the joy that he has brought me!
My hope for Citizens church is that we would be a people of deep, rich love for others. A prayerful people that radiate the light that Jesus has given us. And ultimately, our cups would be filled with so much love and joy from Jesus that it causes an outpouring of sharing the gospel to the harvest of this world.
